He uses youtube as an example of how modern media and websites allows us to create our own identity and use it to influence others.

     What does the idea or theory say about how audiences might respond to the media text?

David Gauntlett says that it is impossible to predict how people are going to react to a particular media product so he says that a piece of media can turn into something different than it was intended to because people view it in different ways so it is not the same for everyone who sees it.

Stranger things season 1 episode 1

Synopsis of events

It is set in the night of winter 1983 and four boys ( Lucas, Dustin, Mike and will) are playing a game of `Dungeons and dragons`. Will leaves after the game is over and sees alien- like figures and hears Dogs barking along with other animal noises, the barking leads him off the path. Will tries to call 911 but all he can hear is growing on the phone. As he is walking through the woods he meets a girl with a shaved head and has `011`tattooed onto her wrist, we find out that this girl is called Eleven. Will continues to hear noises and growling so runs to his shed in his garden and grabs a gun. We see lights flicker before the lights turn off completely and will disappears. His parents and friends try to find him and set out on search but they cannot find him. The police eventually find his bike but cannot find Will.

Characters

Will Byers – innocent boy who goes missing.

Eleven – girl with a shaved head who Will meets in the woods, she has a tattoo on her wrist which says 011.

Joyce – Wills mum, who helps in the search.

Chief Hopper – A police Chief who isn’t interested in the search and isn’t worried about will.

Mike , Lucas and Dustin – Other boys who were with Will playing Dungeons and Dragons, they help with the search.

Personal response.

I found stranger things gripping and exciting. I liked the way that it made me interested and made me want to continue watching to find out what happens next. I think that the setting that  it was in made it feel more spooky and helped to add more atmosphere to the fact that Will had gone missing.
