sound techniques homework - Thriller

The usual suspect

DIALOGUE
the use of dialogue in `the usual suspect` helps to create a genre because of the way that it is spoken because the voices are low and quiet which suggests that there is something sinister and not normal because they are talking quietly which means that they could be trying to be sceretive.
The dialogue helps the narrative because it makes the audience understand what is going on more so they have a better understanding and they know who the characters are from what they do and what they say because it shows if they are good or bad.
I think that this sound is typical for a thriller genre because the dialogue is short so it leaves the audience interested so they want to continue watching because it grips them and they want to find out more infomation.

SOUNDTRACK
The soundtrack helps to create the genre because it is low and deep with string music which shows that it is a thriller because the deep music makes it feel like something is going to happen because the music sounds climatic and builds up.
The soundtrack helps the narrative because the climatic feel creates more tension and suspense for the reader so it can help to hint about what is going to happen later in the film.
The soundtrack is typical for the genre because the music creates suspence and string is also used so it makes it seem more dark.

SYNCHRONOUS SOUND
The synchronous sound of footsteps creates the genre of thriller because the footsteps we can`t see the footsteps and we can only hear it so it creates suspense because we want to know where the footsteps are coming from and who it is, also through the use of synchronous sound it makes the footsteps seem louder than they actually are because the sound was put in after.
The footsteps help the narrative because , we know that there is someone else even though we cant see them and the suspense and tension that is created helps to grip the audience so that they are more interested and they want to continue watching.
the sound is typical because in most thrillers there is synchronous sound because it builds emotion and tension because it makes it louder then it would be, the footsteps are lound which makes the audience intrigued because they wouldnt have been expecting it.

DIEGETIC SOUND
The diegetic sound of rain helps to create the genre because the use of rain helps to set the setting and location which can help the audience to understand because it creates a mood of that places and they can have an expectation of what is going to happen in the film.
It helps the narrative because if you know where the setting is then you know what to expect and the use of rain could also help to forshadow or hint at what is going to happen next.
The sound is typical for the genre because a change in music, like rain, can suggest that something is about to happen.

SOUND EFFECT
The sound effect of gunshots help to create the genre because you know that someone has been shot or killed. This creates the genre because you know what it is going to be about.
This helps to create the narrative because you that if someone has been killed then it is going to be about the killer and the person who got killed becauase they are the most important characters and those are the people who the audience focuses on so they pay the most attention to them.
Sound effects are typical and normal for thriller genres because they can be used in different ways to create a mixture of moods and emotions because they can be used to shock and suprise the audience with something that they weren`t expecting but they can also use it to highlight and make things more clear to the audience.

SOUND BRIDGE
The sound bridge that is used to create the sirens creates the genre because it suggests that the police know and they are looking for someone or something, however we do not know that it is the police but it is suggested from what it going on and the narrative.
The sound helps the narrative because it helps the audience to understand that the sirens are probably police from what happened earlier in the scene otherwise it wouldnt make sense to the audience and it could be confusing or missleading.
This sound is typical because the sound is being carried over from the scene before but we dont see it so the audience know before they see it because they can hear it and it creates suspense for the audience.
